Activity Based Intelligence

Activity-based Intelligence (ABI) approaches intelligence problems by analyzing events and transactions (activity) in a geo-temporal context, understanding available data and its underlying properties, and analyzing that data in a forensic fashion to enable network analysis.

ABI, by definition, uses MULTI-INT collections to obtain the information needed to compute the required analytics, which must be registered in a common frame of reference. The quantity of data is too large for analysts to perform manual manipulation; therefore, ABI must leverage automation to aid the analyst in their tasking.

 

Our Approach

 

Centauri uses both commercial software and custom agile development to assist major integrators and our deployed analysts use ABI tradecraft. Centauri is unique in this offering due to its “depth of footprint” by having offices and contracts at COCOMS and Combat Support Agencies. 

Additionally, Centauri’s approach to ABI is to leverage the concept of “geopositioning for discoverability.” A critical component of ABI is to ensure all collected data is within a common reference frame. Centauri has a team of photogrammetry experts that have helped form the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s preferred approach to sensor modeling and geopositioning, which enables the rigorous fusion of MULTI-INT data sources.

This preferred approach was defined through a series of community standards and processes that allow the community to convey data seamlessly between systems while recognizing and accounting for the geopositioning uncertainties inherent with the individual collectors.

Having this MULTI-INT data within a common frame of reference, Centauri’s data scientists and engineers can use their algorithms and methodologies to assemble Information they would not be possible without the rigorous treatment of the data. These algorithms and methodologies include deep learning, neural networks, and machine vision. Finally, Centauri’s integrated team has software engineers that allow for advanced visualization techniques and dissemination of data within the context of the National Systems for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG) architecture.

Geo-Positioning and Targeting

Geo-positioning, a foundational operation in remote sensing and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), determines the location of objects with respect to a given reference frame based on the information gathered by the sensor(s) from a location remote to the observed objects. Knowing that something exists in the scene is important, but knowing precisely where it is located gives context and makes the data actionable. The process of geo-positioning provides the “where” aspect of intelligence gathering.

Prototyping

Our Engineering Prototype Center (EPC) is configured to support our rigorous design, build, inspect and verify product development philosophy. The EPC consists of a host of composite processing, additive manufacturing, mobile workstations, material storage, inspection and test equipment and instrumentation, housed within a 2,100 square foot laboratory. Prior to fabrication of prototypes, rigorous design and analyses are performed by our engineers and designers to understand the suitability of the prototypes for desired end-use and testing.
