Kord Technologies Wins 2019 ASMDA Technical Achievement Team Award
Annual Award Honors Special Contributions to Air, Space and Missile Defense Activities
CHANTILLY, Va., Feb. 28, 2020 – Kord Technologies, a Centauri company, was awarded the 2019 Air, Space and Missile Defense Association (ASMDA) Technical Achievement Team Award for their leadership in directed energy. Kord was specifically recognized for its efforts to realign directed energy capabilities from the science and technology community for combat use.
“It is an honor for Kord Technologies to be presented with the 2019 ASMDA Technical Achievement Team Award,” said David Drzaran, Centauri’s Chief Executive Officer. “Kord has long been a leader in the tactical directed energy market and this award acknowledges the team’s incredible work. We look forward to their continued success in this endeavor as part of the Centauri team.”
The ASMDA annual award highlights a group’s tremendous accomplishments in air, space or missile defense activities with organizations such as the Missile Defense Agency, the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command and the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command.
In 2019, Kord Technologies was contracted to deliver a directed energy laser weapon system prototype on Stryker combat vehicles. The company is currently leading the U.S. Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) Directed Energy Maneuver Short Range Air Defense (DE-MSHORAD) initiative to equip American Soldiers with laser capabilities that can counter and defeat Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) threats.
“Receiving the ASMDA Technical Achievement Team Award is an affirmation for the entire Kord organization. It recognizes the hard work and meticulous approach taken by our employees in this crucial undertaking delivering advanced technologies to the U.S. military,” said Scott Schnorrenberg, Kord Technologies’ President. “We will continue to work diligently to assist the U.S. Army with its modernization plan by readying these directed energy prototypes for the warfighter.”
The ASMDA hosted a complimentary luncheon to honor the award recipients in Huntsville, Alabama on February 25th, where Lieutenant General Daniel L. Karbler, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command and U.S. Army Strategic Forces Command, served as the guest speaker.
