Brian to lead team providing innovative research, development and operation for the DoD.
CHANTILLY, VA, November 13, 2019 – Centauri, a leading provider of high-end engineering, intelligence, cybersecurity and advanced technology solutions, today announced that former Director of Space Control Programs Brian Young has been promoted to Vice President of Space Control Programs. He will continue to lead teams working in highly sensitive, classified and time-critical programs with a focus on multi-domain integration and operations among various Department of Defense contracts.
As director, Brian leads a geographically disperse team of more than 70 highly-skilled, multi-disciplined engineers and software developers providing innovative research, development and operational execution for the entire United States Air Force Space Control portfolio. After moving to Maui, HI in 2016, Brian has overseen Space Control’s tremendous expansion and has been a force multiplier by growing Centauri’s business unit in strategic locations including Hawaii, California in Colorado.
“When I joined Centauri five years ago, I was given the opportunity to move my family to Hawaii while continuing to advance my career and grow our space program,” said Brian Young. “It’s rare that you work for a company that gives you such autonomy to build a team and to flourish. This progressive hiring mindset has enabled us to attract some of the best and brightest engineering talent available, and it’s why we’re able to continuously deliver high-quality results to our government customers.
With offices dispersed strategically around the country, many of which are collocated with customer sites on base, Centauri remains seamlessly in tune with the needs of federal agencies. The recent acquisition of Kord Technologies provides even more capabilities for the company – and teams like Brian’s – to deliver best-in-class directed energy and hypersonic solutions to keep our nation safe.
“Believing in our employees is key to our success,” said Centauri Senior Vice President of Space Superiority and Missile Defense Wes Freiwald. “Giving Brian the opportunity to take a small R&D focused business area and build it up to a multi-million dollar team that now supports our nation’s most important Space Control programs is a true testament to the caliber of our employees we have and the type of entrepreneurial culture that we encourage. Brian has excellent leadership skills and vision. Those attributes combined with a ‘can do’ mentality made Brian a natural fit to lead this mission area for our rapidly growing business.”
