The presentation will focus on the dependence of Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies in the critical infrastructure sectors, methods to assess vulnerabilities and path to fortification and resilience.

CHANTILLY, Virginia, March 3, 2020 – Centauri, a leading provider of high-end space, intelligence, defense, and cyber solutions, announced today that it will present at the Joint Navigation Conference in Covington, Kentucky, June 1-4, 2020. The presentation, titled “PNT Assessments of Critical Infrastructure – Find, Fix and Fortify,” will focus on the dependence of Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies in the critical infrastructure sectors.

PNT-based technologies, including the Global Positioning System (GPS), are now an integral part of the national critical infrastructure,” said Centauri’s Greg Gerten, who will present with colleague Geoffrey Hella. “Trains, aircraft, banking, communications, farming, and numerous other “unknowing” users all depend on it, mostly in the form of GPS satellite signals. The reliance on GPS signals is expected to increase dramatically as the nation moves toward smart cities, autonomous automobiles and next-generation communications.”

Last month, President Donald J. Trump issued an executive order on strengthening national resilience through the responsible use of PNT services. According to the executive order, “the disruption or manipulation of [PNT] services has the potential to adversely affect the national and economic security of the United States. To strengthen national resilience, the Federal Government must foster the responsible use of PNT services by critical infrastructure owners and operators.”

“Centauri is directly aligned to support this executive order. Centauri provides solutions to the nation’s toughest PNT problems through complete systems and integrated approach to include navigation systems, operations, performance, prototyping, and engineering,” said Hella. “This PNT directive will push public and private sectors to identify systems, networks, and assets that are dependent on PNT services; identify appropriate PNT services; detect the disruption and manipulation of PNT services; and manage the associated risks to the systems, networks, and assets dependent on PNT services. “
