The Award recognizes a sustained degree of excellence and innovation in overall security program management, implementation and oversight.

DAYTON, OH, July 31, 2020 – Centauri, a leading provider of high-end space, intelligence, directed energy, and cyber solutions, today announced that PreTalen, a Centauri company, has won the 2020 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DSCA). Sixty-one facilities were selected for the award. PreTalen’s Beavercreek, Ohio, office was selected as one of 61 facilities chosen out of approximately 12,500 cleared facilities.

“We’re proud of what we have accomplished at PreTalen and what we continue to accomplish at Centauri,” said Julie Mannheim, Facility Security Officer (FSO) at PreTalen, which was acquired by Centauri in December 2019. “This has been a total team effort, starting with my security predecessors who started the company and my colleagues that I work with today. Of course, this could also not have been done without our strong partnership and communication with DCSA. They helped with numerous questions, paperwork reviews and on-site assist visits. This collaboration greatly helped our security posture and facilities security program.”

This is the second award for Centauri, as legacy company Integrity Applications Incorporated (IAI) was honored for its Ann Arbor, Michigan facility in 2017. This is also the second award for Mannheim, who was previously honored in 2000.

The Cogswell Award focuses on principles of industrial security excellence. Factors include establishing and maintaining a security program that far exceeds the basic National Industrial Security Program requirements; and providing leadership to other cleared facilities in establishing best practices while maintaining the highest standards for security.

The award was established in 1966 in honor of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, the first chief of industrial security within the Department of Defense. Cogswell was responsible for developing the basic principles of the Industrial Security Program, which includes an emphasis on the partnership between industry and government to protect classified information. This partnership ultimately ensures the greatest protection for the U.S. warfighter and our Nation’s classified information.
