Radio Frequency Cyber

The Centauri Radio Frequency (RF) Cyber team takes a multi-disciplinary approach to solving difficult RF reverse engineering and cyber vulnerability research problems.

The team combines traditional electronic warfare tactics with next generation Software Defined Radio (SDR) cyber capabilities to develop offensive and counter Electronic Warfare (EW) platforms that meet mission requirements. A deep understanding of digital communications systems Is utilized to analyze complex systems such as Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial Control Systems, and voice communications systems to deliver RF cyber solutions. Centauri’s counter EW platforms are designed to protect vulnerable critical wireless infrastructure against emerging wireless threats. 

Our Approach

Centauri’s RF Cyber team has a successful track record of developing within the entire lifecycle of cyber projects and delivering full-stack solutions to aid in mission success. Developed platforms have benefited the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), and open source communities. Our RF Cyber team does not believe in unsolvable problems, only creative solutions.  

Our team is well-versed in digital communication systems, ranging from software protocol development to designing embedded Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms to process high-bandwidth and low-latency signals. The project lifecycle Includes PCB analysis of RF circuitry, software reverse engineering, demodulation of RF emissions, and decoding of signals using SDRs.

Decoding of wireless signals is a complex procedure and utilizes the extensive knowledge between team members of a wide array of communications protocols, crypto-analytics, and machine learning to understand the signatures of proprietary Over the Air (OTA) protocols. Once a thorough understanding of a device’s physical layer has been accomplished, an SDR implementation can be created. The SDR implementation allows for traditional EW analysis to be conducted and specialized in-band and out-of-band protocol analysis of a threat to design custom RF cyber solutions. This process of reverse engineering and designing an SDR interface is a unique skillset of the multiple disciplinary team and allows Centauri the ability to conduct cyber analysis and exploitation over a wireless interface.
