Systems Engineering and Integration

Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) is a disciplined approach for aggregating multiple subsystems into a complete whole that delivers the capabilities, products, and services the customer requires to complete their mission.

It is a multi-phase process involving requirements definition, implementation, integration, test, verification, and operations. Satisfaction of stakeholder functional, physical and operational performance requirements is paramount, but cost and schedule constraints must also be strictly observed. SE&I includes both engineering and technical management activities, and brings together component subsystems into one system, ensuring they function together as intended, in the environment in which they were intended to operate.

The complex world of today is constantly changing, and our customers demand that we take advantage of new technologies while adapting to ever-changing threats.  Successful development and deployment of today’s complex systems requires an extremely disciplined and methodical approach to Systems Engineering and Integration.
Centauri team members have in-depth experience in each phase of the system lifecycle, taking complex systems from initial concept and requirements development through final deployment and operations. They have the insight to begin with the end state in mind. This is critical to defining system components that not only function properly, but align with system CONOPS and organizational boundaries.  We know how our customers’ organizations function because that is where we come from. We have lived the mission and bring our lessons learned to bear.  

Minimizing the number of interfaces is often the key to success. Interfaces that may seem trivial to the less-experienced engineer can often make or break a system, and all interfaces must be painstakingly examined to ensure the system will work seamlessly.  Complex systems also require methodical verification, and Centauri engineers have the skills and experience needed to define verifiable requirements during the concept development phase. Above all, customer focus is the key to success. We are not successful unless our customer is successful, and we will fight to ensure our nation’s resources are spent wisely and that our efforts succeed.

Space Launch System
